Scientific-professional series. Methods, evidence and skills for applied artificial intelligence.
The series collects volumes that start from a real problem of applied artificial intelligence and treat it with method: what is known, with what evidence, which skills those who work need. The scientific curation is by the Scientific-Technical Committee of AIPIA; the publisher is the association. This page is the English version of the Italian page aipia.it/studies/, which is the reference for the states read from the registry.
Direction and editorial committee
The series is directed by Rafael Alberto Patron, Chair of the Scientific-Technical Committee and Board member of AIPIA. The editorial committee is being constituted: names, roles and affiliations will be published on this page when the appointments are formal, so that whoever reads a volume knows who assessed it. Until then no name is announced.

The states of ISBN and ISSN are read from the Identity and identifiers registry (Italian) and change there first: this page reports them with the month of the data. No code is indicated before it is assigned.
The DOIs already deposited by AIPIA
Before the series, AIPIA deposited with a DOI three guides of the Scientific-Technical Committee. They are the concrete precedent of the method the series adopts: complete metadata, citable version, persistent address.

Editorial policy: verifiable commitments
The series does not ask for trust on its word: each commitment below can be checked by opening a volume.
- Authors and responsibility. Each volume states the authors, the role of the Scientific-Technical Committee and the date of publication.
- Licence on each volume. The licence of use is stated on each volume, in the colophon and in the metadata of the DOI; there is no licence declared at series level.
- One DOI per edition. Each volume and each language edition have their own DOI; a corrected version stays linked to the previous one through the metadata.
- Distinct, linked Italian and English editions. The two editions are separate publications that cite each other on the page of the volume.
- Errata. Corrections are published on the page of the volume, with the date, without silently replacing the file.
How to cite a volume
The citation carries, in the order of the bibliographic style chosen by whoever cites: authors, year, title, name of the series and volume number, publisher (AIPIA, Rome) and DOI. The first volume is in preparation: when it is published, its page will show the ready-to-copy citation.
Proposing a contribution
Proposals are sent to the secretariat of AIPIA, segreteria@aipia.it, which forwards them to the direction of the series. A proposal states the topic, the authors, the language of the edition and an abstract; the direction replies with the assessment of the Scientific-Technical Committee.

What is AIPIA Studies in Applied AI?
AIPIA Studies in Applied AI is the scientific-professional series of the Associazione Italiana Professionisti dell'Intelligenza Artificiale: it collects volumes on methods, evidence and skills for applied artificial intelligence, curated by the Scientific-Technical Committee and published by the association as publisher, in Italian and English editions, each with its own DOI. The first volume is in preparation.
Who directs the series and who assesses its contents?

Does the series have an ISBN and an ISSN?
AIPIA holds the ISBN publisher prefix 979-12-986684, assigned by the Italian ISBN Agency in September 2026: the ISBN codes of the individual volumes of the series are linked to the titles at publication, and no volume code is shown before that link is made in the Agency portal. The request for the ISSN of the series to the ISSN Centre is planned after the publication of the first volume, so at this stage the series declares no ISSN. The updated state of both matters is in the Identity and identifiers registry.
What are the DOIs of the volumes and who assigns them?
The DOI, Digital Object Identifier, is the persistent code that identifies a publication and keeps it citable over time even if its web address changes; the DOIs of the volumes of the series will be registered through DataCite, the same system with which AIPIA has already deposited three guides of the Scientific-Technical Committee, listed on this page with their links.
Are the Italian and English editions the same volume?
Each volume may be published in an Italian edition and in an English edition: they are distinct publications, each with its own DOI and its own metadata, linked to each other by the mutual reference on the page of the volume, so that whoever cites one of them can reach the other. A corrected version stays linked to the previous one through the metadata.
How is a volume of the series cited and how is a contribution proposed?
A volume is cited with authors, year, title, name of the series and volume number, publisher AIPIA and DOI, in the order required by the bibliographic style adopted by whoever cites it, so that the reference stays complete and traceable in every catalogue and reference manager. Proposals for contributions are sent to the secretariat of AIPIA, which forwards them to the direction of the series, indicating topic, authors, language of the edition and an abstract.
