First AI course in English: twelve editions in ItalyAIPIA in the Transparency Register of the European Union
The Italian Association of Artificial Intelligence Professionals is registered in the Transparency Register of the European Union, the public database in which organisations that carry out interest representation activities towards the Union institutions declare who they are and what they do. This page explains what the Register is, what registration entails and what it does not mean.

What the Transparency Register is
The Transparency Register is the joint register of the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, established by the interinstitutional agreement of 20 May 2021, for organisations and self-employed individuals that carry out interest representation activities towards the Union institutions. Those who register declare their identity, the interests they represent, the activities carried out and the resources used, and the data can be consulted by anyone.
The Register is managed by a Secretariat common to the three institutions, which validates applications and checks the quality of the data. Registration is voluntary, but for some interactions with the institutions, such as meetings with Commissioners or access to the premises of the Parliament, it is a condition.
Why it matters for a professional or a company
Those who work with artificial intelligence are the addressees of European rules in full implementation, starting with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. A professional association that talks with the institutions about the application of those rules does so more credibly if it declares in a public register who it is, whom it represents and how it operates: the Register makes that dialogue traceable.
For a company or an office assessing AIPIA, the entry in the Register is a primary source to compare with the others: the Identity and identifiers registry, the Transparency section and the institutional representation page of aipia.it.

Last check: 4 September 2026. Checks are repeated by an internal procedure, not on an automatic schedule: the date says when a probe actually looked.
The same data, with the same date, lives in the Identity and identifiers registry on aipia.it (in Italian) and on the Italian page of this register entry: every surface reads the same source.
What registration entails
- Code of Conduct. Those who register accept the Code of Conduct of the Register: always declare identity and the interests represented, provide correct and up-to-date information, do not obtain information improperly, respect the rules of the institutions.
- Annual update. The declared data is updated at least once a year; the Secretariat may ask for clarifications and, in case of violations, suspend or remove the registration.
- Relationship with AIPIA's activities. Registration makes declared and verifiable the representation activity that AIPIA carries out as a Participant in the European AI Alliance, today Apply AI Alliance, and in the dialogue on the implementation of the AI Act.
What this page does not claim
Registration in the Transparency Register is not an accreditation, not a certification, not a recognition of the value of the association by the European institutions and it does not entail any funding from the Union: it declares who talks with the institutions and in what capacity. AIPIA does not carry out representation activities on behalf of third parties. AIPIA's verifiable memberships and identifiers are in the Identity and identifiers registry on aipia.it; the association's figures are on the AIPIA in numbers page (in Italian).
Questions and answers
What is the Transparency Register of the European Union?
The Transparency Register is the public database, managed jointly by the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, in which organisations that carry out interest representation activities towards the Union institutions register, declaring who they are, what they do and with which resources. Registration is voluntary but it is a condition for some interactions with the institutions. Anyone can consult the register.
Is AIPIA registered in the Transparency Register?
Yes: the registration of AIPIA, the Italian Association of Artificial Intelligence Professionals, was validated by the Secretariat of the Register on 3 September 2026 with number REG 4362863105994-76, and the number is published in the association's internal registry of identifiers together with the date and the source. The link to the public entry appears on the Italian page of this registry when the probe sees it respond. The data is rechecked by an internal procedure.
What does registration entail for AIPIA?
By registering, AIPIA accepts the Code of Conduct of the Register, which requires it to always declare its identity and the interests it represents, to provide correct and up-to-date information, not to obtain information improperly and to respect the rules of the institutions, and it undertakes to update its data at least once a year. The annual update is an obligation, not a choice. In case of violation the Secretariat may suspend or remove the registration.
Is registration in the Register an accreditation or a certification?
No: registration in the Transparency Register is a public declaration of who represents interests towards the institutions of the European Union and in what capacity, not an accreditation, not a quality certification, not a recognition of the value of the organisation and not European funding. The Register makes it possible to know who talks with the institutions. It does not judge the merit of what they say.
Which interest representation activities does AIPIA carry out towards the European institutions?
AIPIA brings the point of view of Italian artificial intelligence professionals into the European dialogue as a Participant in the European AI Alliance, today Apply AI Alliance, sharing positions and documents with the Commission and following the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, and with its registration in the Register it declares this activity in a verifiable way. The full picture is on the institutional representation page of aipia.it. No lobbying mandate on behalf of third parties.
Where can the registration of AIPIA be verified?
The registration can be verified on the official website of the Transparency Register of the European Union by searching for the number REG 4362863105994-76 or the name of the association: the public entry shows the declared data and the date of the last update. The same number is in the Identity and identifiers registry on aipia.it. The two sources say the same thing.
What is the difference between the Transparency Register and the European AI Alliance?
The Transparency Register is a public inter-institutional register of the organisations that represent interests towards the Union, while the European AI Alliance, today Apply AI Alliance, is a multi-stakeholder forum of the European Commission in which AIPIA is a Participant: the first says who talks with the institutions, the second is the place of the dialogue. They are two different and complementary things. Neither is an accreditation.
