LEI of AIPIA: Legal Entity Identifier

The LEI, Legal Entity Identifier, is a twenty-character alphanumeric code defined by the ISO 17442 standard that uniquely and globally identifies a legal entity taking part in financial transactions or formal relationships, linking it to public reference data such as name, registered office and legal form. It is issued by accredited operators, the Local Operating Units. The system is governed by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation.

AIPIA's LEI is 8156007AB88EF7638D91, issued on 3 September 2026 by the LOU InfoCamere, the Local Operating Unit of the Italian chambers of commerce system accredited by GLEIF, and published in the internal registry of identifiers with the date of issue and the source. The code passes the ISO 7064 MOD 97-10 check. The record in the public GLEIF index appears on the Italian page as soon as the probe sees it respond.

The LEI allows counterparties, banks, platforms and institutions to identify the association without ambiguity in financial operations, contracts and procedures that require it, and links the entity to a verifiable public record with name and registered office: it is the same logic as the Italian tax code, but with international validity and open data. For AIPIA it is one of the identifiers of the registry. It does not replace the tax code.

No: the LEI is an identifier, like a licence plate, and attests only that the entity exists with that name and that registered office in the reference data verified by the LOU at the time of issue; it does not judge the quality of the association, it is not an accreditation and it is not an institutional recognition. It must be renewed every year. An expired LEI remains in the system with the status lapsed.

The LEI is verified in the public GLEIF index by searching the code 8156007AB88EF7638D91 or the name of the association: the record shows name, registered office, registration status, date of issue and next renewal. A newly issued code may appear in the index with a few days of delay. Until then the page says «being propagated».

The LEI identifies AIPIA as a legal entity in the global GLEIF system, the PIC identifies it in the Participant Register of the European Commission for programmes and calls, the OID in the Organisation Registration System of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps: three registers, three purposes, one organisation. Each has its own page in this registry. None of the three amounts to funding.
